In today’s volatile market, businesses need to operate more efficiently than ever, particularly in sectors like brewing and alternative proteins. These industries, where precision is key, must rely on real-time data to thrive. Rising costs, complex supply chains, and sustainability pressures are reshaping how businesses operate. This is where Sennos, a North Carolina-based startup formerly known as Precision Fermentation, steps in.

Sennos has raised $15 million in a new funding round, bringing its total funding to over $20 million. This investment will help Sennos expand its impact in the brewing and beverage industries, as well as new markets like alternative proteins, biofuels, pharmaceuticals, and biomanufacturing. Led by TomEnterprise, founded by Thomas von Koch (ex-CEO of EQT) and Jan Ståhlberg, this funding will enable Sennos to accelerate its mission to become the industry standard in precision fermentation monitoring.

Founded in 2017 by Jared Resnick, Sennos has quietly amassed the world’s largest real-time fermentation dataset. By turning fermentation from an unpredictable art into a precise science, Sennos offers brewers a new level of control over their production processes. This data drives AI-powered insights that help brewers make faster decisions, reduce process variability, and improve consistency—all while cutting costs and minimizing waste.

Sennos’ AI-driven platform replaces the traditional reliance on slow lab tests and manual interventions with continuous, real-time fermentation intelligence. This means brewers can optimize their processes on the fly, ensuring better beer quality, faster production times, and more resilient operations. These capabilities are especially critical as breweries face growing operational pressures, including supply chain volatility and rising costs.

“Our platform empowers brewers and beverage producers to enhance consistency, minimize waste, and increase profitability through real-time insights,” said Resnick. “Sennos is pioneering AI-powered sensing, analytics, and automation in fermentation, transforming complex, high-variability processes into predictable, efficient operations.”

Sennos’ AI-Powered BrewIQ and M3 System

At the heart of Sennos’ innovation is its BrewIQ platform, paired with the M3 Sensor System. Together, they create a powerful, AI-enabled toolset that provides real-time sensing, predictive insights, and actionable recommendations. These capabilities allow operators to monitor and fine-tune fermentation dynamics in real-time, alerting them to potential issues before they impact quality. This innovation replaces traditional methods that involve time-consuming manual checks and delayed lab results.

As a result, brewers gain the ability to adjust processes on the fly, significantly improving production efficiency and product quality. By integrating real-time analytics, Sennos offers unprecedented visibility into the fermentation process, which is essential for ensuring consistency, scalability, and sustainability.

Sennos differentiates itself from competitors by positioning itself between low-end tools used by homebrewers and expensive lab instruments that are often disconnected from the production process. According to Sennos, their platform excels by offering connected, real-time insights that can be easily integrated into existing setups. The company’s unique, data-source agnostic approach allows it to pull together inputs from across the production line, offering an edge no other solution can match.

“By integrating diverse data sources and offering unmatched visibility, we’re able to drive faster decisions and better outcomes across fermentation-based industries,” Sennos said.

The Future of Fermentation: A Smarter, More Sustainable Approach

Sennos is poised to transform how industries that rely on fermentation—such as food and beverage, biofuels, pharmaceuticals, and alternative proteins—operate. The company’s goal is to support every stage of fluid and fermentation production by 2026. This expansion will include new sensors and software to give customers richer ways to interact with their data, improving analytics and enabling predictive modeling.

With its advanced technology, large data assets, and new funding, Sennos is set to redefine fermentation-based manufacturing. By turning complex biological processes into predictable and efficient systems, Sennos is not just improving the brewing industry—it’s setting the foundation for smarter, more sustainable production across various sectors.

“Understanding what’s happening inside fermentation tanks in real-time changed everything for brewers,” said Resnick. “This funding will help us scale rapidly within the brewing industry and bring that same level of understanding to other industries that depend on fermentation.”
