Early-stage blockchain founders across Latin America, Europe, and beyond often struggle to secure the support they need to grow. From limited access to capital to a lack of strategic mentorship and regulatory navigation, the barriers are high. The new Tritemius Fund Web3 VC, based in Madrid, is looking to change that.
With an initial €21 million in funding, Tritemius Fund FCRE I has become Spain’s first fully regulated venture capital fund focused entirely on Web3 and blockchain innovation. More than just a capital provider, the fund offers founders hands-on guidance, regulatory access, and international scaling support—key resources often missing in the early stages of company building.
Tritemius Fund is managed under the EU’s European Venture Capital Fund (EuVECA) regime and is regulated by the CNMV, Spain’s financial markets authority. Its unique regulatory status makes it the only fully licensed VC in Spain focused exclusively on blockchain sectors like DeFi, tokenisation, privacy tech, and Web3 cybersecurity.
Advised by Tritemius Capital and managed by Abante, a top-tier Spanish asset manager with over €1.5 billion in private market assets, the fund aims to back between 15 and 20 startups at pre-seed and pre-Series A stages. Typical initial checks hover around €500,000, with reserves for follow-on funding to help portfolio companies grow sustainably.
“We created Tritemius to fill a serious gap in blockchain investment,” said Luis Pastor, CEO and co-founder of Tritemius Capital. “Our mission is to build a strong bridge between Europe, Latin America, and global Web3 innovation.”
Web3 Founders Need More Than Capital
Pastor emphasized that founder quality is the most critical part of their investment decision-making process. “In Web3, talent and vision matter more than ever. We want to back teams with deep expertise and a clear understanding of the real-world impact their technology can deliver.”
According to Tritemius, tailwinds for blockchain investment are growing fast. Improved regulation, rising institutional interest, and advancements like zero-knowledge proofs, account abstraction, and DePINs are making Web3 more scalable and usable. Meanwhile, emerging platforms that connect traditional finance with digital assets are opening up entirely new markets.
Tritemius Capital’s founding team brings decades of experience in blockchain, fintech, and VC. CEO Luis Pastor has led several tech ventures, and the investment committee includes leaders like:
- Lluís Pedragosa Massó, a venture investor with 15+ years in cybersecurity, fintech, and crypto.
- Pablo Romero, formerly with BBVA’s Blockchain & Digital Assets division.
- John Whelan, an early blockchain pioneer and strategic advisor.
With this cross-functional team, Tritemius blends the agility of startups with institutional-grade credibility. “It’s not just about the money,” said Pastor. “It’s about walking alongside founders with the right tools, access, and network.”
Strategic First Investments and Global Outreach
The fund’s first batch of investments reflects its global scope. Tritemius plans to back:
- A decentralised cybersecurity startup in Spain
- A Spanish-Latin American fintech using tokenisation for microloans
- A U.S.-Israeli company focused on digital asset infrastructure
These investments are just the beginning. The Tritemius team will also be attending flagship Web3 events, including Token 2049 in Singapore and Dubai, Merge in Madrid and Buenos Aires, and the European Blockchain Convention in Barcelona.
Tritemius is also scaling its venture builder program, co-creating startups in partnership with corporates to drive deeptech innovation and decentralised entrepreneurship.
At its core, Tritemius Capital aims to bridge the often disconnected worlds of blockchain startups and regulated capital. “We want founders to know we speak their language,” said Pastor. “But we also bring access to institutional investors, regulators, and long-term growth opportunities.”
As Web3 ecosystems continue to evolve, Tritemius Fund Web3 VC is positioning itself as the go-to partner for early-stage blockchain founders seeking capital, clarity, and credibility in a fast-changing market.
